Daisy's biography
My name is Hoiying Ho, and my friends call me Daisy. I come from Hong Kong. I am a graduate senior at UL. My major is General Studies with concentration on mathematics and natural sciences. I have been in the United State about four years.
The first time I came, I was a 12 th Grade exchange student in Montana. After I finished high school, I decided to study in the United States for my college education. I started my college in Spring 05 at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. I was in biology, then I changed to nursing; finally, I change to General Studies.
Something interesting about me is that every time I entered the U.S, always unexpected things happened. The first time I arrived in Montana, my host sister brought me on the mountain on a four-wheeler. That was very exciting and fun at the beginning. However, the four-wheeler was trapped by a cable which was hidden under the ground, when we went up the mountain. Both of us fell off the wheeler and the mountain about six feet. Then, we both ended up in the emergence room.
The second time I entered the U.S. was on December, 2005. I was coming to Louisiana for college. I never had been to Louisiana before. I thought everything was set up and organized. I had my flight ticket, passport, and luggage. The school arranges for a student to pick me up at the airport. But, my plane was delayed. When I got to Lafayette, it was midnight, I looked around and waited and tried to find the person to pick me up for an hour, and I was the last person in the airport. I did not see anyone, so I asked the people who were working in the airport; they told me there was a person waiting for a student but he/she left already. The worker also told me that to take a taxi to the university. I told her that it was my first time came to Louisiana, so I knew nothing about here. Then, she found a policeman who took me to one of the dorm.
The third time, it was January this year. I arrived safely in Newark, New Jersey. Since the immigration process took too long, I missed my next flight to Houston. When I arrived Houston, the connected flight was delayed about three hours because of some mechanic problem. A twenty hours trip became a thirty hours trip. Finally, I safely went home.
